October 2019
Dear Middle School Parents/Guardians:
As a team building activity for the 7th graders, we will travel on an overnight trip to Upham Woods, an outdoor learning center near Wisconsin Dells, Thursday, October 31st and return the next day, November 1st. Thursday morning, we will meet in mentor rooms for attendance and then leave at approximately 8:30 a.m. We will return by 2:30 p.m. on Friday so students will be able to ride the bus home or be picked up by a parent.
The objectives of the trip are class bonding, team building, and an opportunity to continue to get to know your child better outside the classroom setting. Activities planned include hiking, the low ropes course, also known as “Peanut Butter Mountain,” a Halloween Party and campfire! Educational programs will include animal ecology, archeology, cultural history, habitat restoration and conservation, animal adaptations, and nature walks.
The cost of the trip is $65.00 with scholarships available if needed. Please contact Mr. Johnsrud for information regarding scholarships. We are in need of 2 male chaperones this year. If you are interested in chaperoning please contact Mrs. Barber ASAP at 764-5431.
Students will be given a packing list, and we ask that it be followed exactly—no more and no less than what is listed.
Since the trip is on school days, it is expected that all students will attend. This is an awesome opportunity for the students as well as for their teachers, and we look forward to spending this time together. Below are all required forms as well as Upham Woods’ policies, which you should review with your child prior to us going on the trip.
The entire middle school core team along with support staff will be chaperoning the group.
Please complete and return all forms to your child's mentor teacher by Wednesday, October 16. A fee will be assessed through Skyward and you will get a notification when it is available to be paid.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Johnsrud at 764-5431. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
Sincerely,
The Middle School Staff
