My name is Mrs. Adele Jensen, and I have enjoyed teaching fifth grade in Deerfield since 2001. I graduated with my bachelor's degree from UW-Whitewater in 2000, and received my master's degree from UW-La Crosse in 2008.
My biggest goal for my students is to help them learn how to respect and get along with others. We start some days with a Morning Meeting, which helps each student feel welcome and practice working together in a positive, structured environment.
The fifth grade curriculum will keep your child busy learning many new things. In math, much of our time is spent on fractions, decimals, geometry, and refining basic computation skills. In science, students learn about ecosystems, matter and energy. In social studies, the class learns geography skills and American history. We are using the ARC Core program for language arts. Students learn reading, spelling, grammar, and writing skills through whole group and small group lessons.
Thank you for visiting our classroom website. I am working to make this a useful tool for parents and students. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
